the backstory.

Megan went into the hospital on Friday night, May 20, with some abdominal cramping that turned out to be contractions and early signs of pre-term labor.  She was promptly admitted and placed on antibiotics, for precautionary reasons, and two drugs meant to stop the contractions.  One was a blood pressure med that has proven to work in stopping contractions, and the other was an anti-inflamatory med that has proven the same.  It was made clear that she was in the hospital indefinitely, with the likely scenario being that she wouldn't leave before having the baby, be it 3 weeks or 3 months.

So how the hay do you go from a comfy hospital stay to an emergency C-section at 1 in the a.m., you ask?  Our friends the medications.  The anti-inflam. med could only be taken for 72 hours without the potential to harm the baby and the blood pressure medicine wasn't working on it's own to stop the contractions.  So, at 11 p.m. Tuesday night they started back up and this time there was no slowing them down.  Pepper C. wanted out, and she wouldn't listen to reason.  She also thought that she could come out feet first, and the docs have a big problem with that.

It all happened so fast that before we knew it there was this tiny, perfect little person being wheeled through the hall to begin a hospital stay of her own.  We look forward to every day that she gets stronger and every ounce that she grows.

Meanwhile, her mother and father will be working on our negotiation tactics...
