and the beat marches on...

So it has been an interesting and somewhat trying couple of weeks. Typical of life in the NICU, there have been some new developments...what some might call setbacks we are trying to call kinks in the rope. After a slow weekend filled with Pepper's typical brady episodes, she chose to up the ante by having the episodes fairly often and fairly prolonged. After much discussion, the docs chose her to move her from the stepdown unit back into the west unit where she was first admitted. She is now back on oxygen, and they have replaced bottle feeding with her continuous feedings to give her heart, lungs, and stomach a break. Not easy news to swallow, but in everything we are trusting the Lord's mighty hand in this and know that He is working this out...He already knows the outcome and in this we are resting. He is the one that holds her. Pepper, unlike her parents, seems relatively unphased--happy to be on oxygen, and really really mad when she doesn't get her bottle at her scheduled time. What fun it is to see her personality so soon. As one of neighbors said, this time that we get her--unexpected and unplanned--is the lagniappe--a little something extra. What truth.

"But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To the Lord I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill."
Psalm 3:3-4

  1. We are so proud of you two! The Lord is using this time with Pepper to "grow" us all in our faith in Him. So glad to hear that things are better! Love you all so much!
