As of August 25--our stay in the NICU reached the 3 month mark. Though neither of the options sounded particularly appealing upon my arrival at the hospital 14 weeks ago--either 16 weeks of bed rest or a baby born at 25 weeks, I have to say I would much rather have spent the time getting to know our baby. She is such a treat. She is now 5 lbs 6 oz, 17.5 inches. (Height was never going to be on her side even if she had been full term). She is for the most part taking the majority of bottles--8 per day--there are still minor hurdles to overcome before release, but Jason and I are now officially trained in CPR. Check. She is now one of, (if not THE) longest lasting baby in the north unit--not the only indicator that she is not fond of change. They finally pulled her feeding tube, the last of the tubes, but had to put it back in when she wouldn't finish her bottle. A day later Pepper pulled it out of her nose by herself. So out it remains. Fingers crossed. Personally, we like her face without it. Even though she is 14 weeks old she is actually just now "full term" and evidence of her personality seems to be in full swing.
day 97 - 08.30: proud (post tube-pulling)
day 97 - 08.29: happy (post bottle and being held by primary Lauren (who also provided this pic much to my delight)

She's beautiful Megan...what an answer to prayers that she is thriving so well. We are just thrilled for the day that you all go home! May it be very sooon. In our evening prayers let us know of specific needs. Love, the Myhres (formerly a Robertson and Leah's roomate...just in case your wondering who's this nutters lady posting on my blog!)
ReplyDeleteWow, full term! Congrats on that milestone guys--I can't believe it's been three months already. Love that picture with her smile and tongue hanging out. She's obviously fitting right into her family with a great sense of humor. We'll be praying that the going home date comes quickly.
